Clinical research in China
China runs one of the largest clinical research programs in the world, with thousands of trials recruiting at major hospitals and research centres in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and many other cities. Rapid growth in domestic biotech and pharmaceutical innovation means Chinese participants increasingly have access to cutting-edge studies.
Clinical trials in China are regulated by the National Medical Products Administration, which reviews and authorises trials of new medicines before they can begin. Every study must also be approved by an ethics committee at the participating hospital, and trials involving drugs must be conducted at accredited clinical trial institutions.
Participants in Chinese trials receive study-related care at no cost, with informed consent required before any procedures take place. China's research strengths span oncology, cell and gene therapy, cardiovascular disease, metabolic conditions and infectious disease, supported by a large and experienced investigator community.
Please note that Clinrol sources study listings from international registries rather than local Chinese data sources, so coverage of trials recruiting in China is currently limited to studies that are part of international research programs. If you cannot find a suitable study, ask your treating doctor or hospital about locally registered trials.
